cart movers

I enlisted my trusty side-kick again this week. I absolutely love that Porter grasps the whole be nice attitude without even asking why.  It shows a lot about his character as a person that he needs not know why we should be nice or even go out of our way sometimes like in this weeks RAOK.

So many of my random acts have come down to something paid, well i really like the idea that even if you can't just drop a little bit of money (which these days most can't spare much), its even more awesome to take those extra seconds to think of others and just plain help.  I mean on a daily basis most people do those little acts.  Like holding doors and elevators, or letting someone with only a couple items at the grocery store go ahead.  These things are almost like using manners for most people.  Second nature.

But, then theres those kinds of acts, that most people (including myself!) don't do.  For me, I have 2 little guys, and with the 2 year old short patience guy, its a no go for most out of the way RAOK on a daily basis, unless thats all i plan to do, in which case it still has to be short.

This weeks kindness act was one of those kinds that i took Porter with me and thats all we did.  No shopping.  No little brother.  No daddy even.  Just us.

Week 14 - Carts

Porter and I asked people who were unloading their groceries if we could put their carts away for them so they didn't have to.  It was an 85 degree rather warm day - and everyone really expressed their appreciation for our kindness.

After we were done, Porter asked if we could go to another store and do it again.  I love that kid.

really…cmon

This weeks was down right funny, and not at the same time.  I know you are just DYING to know why right? Right..?  Well okay then.  So this weeks RAOK i had planned for a while but never had the time in the week to do it.  Read on...

Week 13 - A car in need

Parking meter men are mean  I don't know if its because they have a sucky job or because they are wanna be policemen who didn't unite make it.  BUT here Porter and I are trying to do our good in West Chester - by going around and putting quarters in the EXPIRED parking meters (and he as so stinkin cute…I love doing these with him), and we cam up to one that had the parking meter guy literally just start wiring the ticket.  ANOTHER uy from the restaurant runs out seeing that tis car (not even his car) and says "The girl is just came in to get her take out ad will be out in 2 minutes"

The meter man never even flinched as the guy says this.  Porter and I stood at the meter and i say to the guy

"look we are getting her meter for her - no need for a ticket"

…he looks up, just for a second…

                                            {notice his awesomeness in behind the meter}

says "awe thats nice - too bad"  !!!! CMON!  proceeds to put the ticket on her car even hough there is clearly money which we have put in there for her…and walks away.

I took the little a-holes picture.  Have a lovely day, sir.  Have a lovely day.

Oh yeah, i did manage to do soe scouting for great backgrounds and came across some ver nice, unique backdrops.  Now i just need some really outgoing up for anything clients who will agree to have their shoot at these awesome locations!  Any takers? :)

thinking out loud -kinda

So I started my photography business as mainly because of my boys.  I have always loved documenting my life in every way when i was young and loved the idea of capturing silly moments.  Pre DSLR i used my iPhone to document Porter and Blake and all of their cuteness.  Once I got my DSLR everything changed.  Boy i wish we were able to afford it sooner!  I am just so thankful my super awesome husband decided it would be the perfect 29th birthday gift for me last year.

As soon as i picked that baby up i was hooked.  I knew i wanted to learn everything i could about that camera.  Of course i started out using the auto functions.  Basic stuff really.  Soon after i took some classes and learned all about shooting manually, and its been a HUGE learning process ever since.  I love every second of it.

With that said, its been hard.  I'm guilty of taking my camera out way too often.  To enjoy the time i have with my kids rather then always wanting to capture it.  I guess thats the photographer in me.  I am going to to vow to myself to be apart of the pictures.  Capture my family and shoot for myself.  Shoot for my family more. And enjoy the silly times without feeling like every single moment has to be a shot for the web or my blog.

Thats it really.  All i have.  Now time to snuggle with my boys.  Night.

snail mail style

The ol' fashion way to say "hi - how are ya" to someone.  Ya know the way we used to find out how everything was going with a distant friend or relative.  Snail Mail…

Week 12 - A Friend receives an out of the blue letter

So a really good friend of mine moved about 2 months ago and rather then sending a text or leaving a voicemail, or even dare i say FB message/wall writing - I decided whats more random (and awesome!) then receiving a letter in your mailbox completely unexpected.

That was it.  That simple.  Easy.  And I don't know about you, but i happen to love getting little notes in the mail from old friends.

USPS - This week was dedicated to you and your help in my ROAK.  Keep up the good work.

Now go out and send some letters why donthca!

Oh, and check out the latest session on my photog website.  Its has an awesome '57 Thunderbird as our super fabulous prop! You could say the kind fella who let me borrow his car was doing a RAOK - because my client and I were certainly happy to have been able to use it!

crazy craigslist

Yahoo its Friday and I'm posting!  And lets move on.  As a short story to this, I have been trying to sell on Craigslist a few things and lately, it seems the replies i get are all fake scammers wasting my time.  Enough already!  Seriously.  When will these people stop trying…anyways I have also been on the hunt for a balance (glide bike) for Blake for a little bit.  We found one and it was in great condition, but too big :( Boo…

Until - I found one!  Was the size we needed just needed to check it out…

Week 11 - Craigslister heres to you.

The gang and I all went to visit this soon to be Blakester's bike together.  I decided earlier in the week after having a couple conversations with my fellow seller on craigslist that if the sale turned out the way I was hoping that this would be my RAOK.

The bike was awesome.  The sellers were super nice.  So as un- strangely as i could, i explained to them my 30 weeks of RAOK for my turning 30 and told them i was giving them MORE (not much here people just a tad) a little thanks for being normal and of course as always I absolutely love seeing the reactions when something unusually out of the blue nice is done for them.  Its the fun part. :)

Ah yes I must mention I have recently set up a FACEBOOK fan page for my photography.  Like away dear readers, like away :)

Happy Weekend!
